How to figure the cost of your siding job

Hardie Siding

Carpentry work is a extra charge

We use treated wood stock

Lets look at 5/16 inch x 4 ft x 8 ft Hardie boards

They come in solid, stucco and 8 inch groove patterns

The old siding is torn off and hauled off

An approved Hardie wrap is always installed 1st (behind your Hardie boards)

The new hardie boards are installed using hot dipped galvanized ring shank nails ( they hold better than any other)

Hardie trim boards or ACQ 40 year treated boards are installed

Caulk with lifetime caulk

Paint with lifetime latex  Professional Glidden / PPG ( you can choose from 1000's of colors)

Cost is $550.00 a 100 square feet ( minimum job is 200 square feet) 

Cost of chimney's are more

2 story are an additional $30 a 100 square feet

Note: waste is rule of thumb 15%

When measuring do not take out windows or doors ( the trim and labor is as expensive as the board usually for these window and door areas)

PI square gable ends 1/2 width times height will give you an accurate measurement of square feet.

Extra cost of Texas windstorm WPI- or city permits not included

Example a Norex Engineering Texas Windstorm WPI- certificate cost $300.00

Cost of soffit and fascia

Tear off old cornice  (soffit ,fascia and haul off)

Cost is $22  linear foot up 24 inches width with 6 inch fascia.  8 inch or 10 inch fascia is an additional charge.

 Lifetime caulk

Install new Hardie soffit and fascia

Paint with Latex Satin Lifetime Professional Glidden Fortis 

Sometimes you may cover existing soffit or fascia and reduce your cost considerably

Horizontal lap siding

Types are select cedarmill, beaded cedarmill,colonial roughsawn, and rustic cedar

Tear off old siding haul off (customer may save money if old siding is smooth and in good shape by covering it with new siding)

Install Hardie approved house wrap

Install new Hardie lap siding

Lifetime caulk

Install new trim boards

Paint with Professional Glidden Premium latex satin paint( Includes 2 colors one for trim and one for walls)

1st story cost is $680.00  a 100 square feet

2nd story cost is $720.00 a 100 square feet

Chimney is a higher cost depending on size

When measuring for siding do not take out  doors and windows. (the trim and labor is as expensive as the lap siding board usually for these windows and doors areas) 

PI square gable ends by 1/2 width times height allow 15 percent for waste

Extra cost for Texas Windstorm Certificate is $300

Vinyl Siding.

Kaycan Timberlake

Cost of installing 4.5 inch Kaycan Timberlake  dutch lap vinyl siding with 1/4 inch fan fold foam insulation $440.00 per 100 square feet

Cost of installing 4.5 inch Kaycan Timberlake dutch lap vinyl siding with 3/4 inch fan fold foam insulation $475.00 per 100 square feet

Cost of installing 4.5 inch Kaycan Timberlake dutch lap vinyl siding with house wrap insulation $400.00 per 100 square feet

Preparation

Carpentry work  is at a extra charge

We use treated wood stock

Cost of installing soffit and fascia is $16.00 a linear foot up to 6 inch fascia and 24 inch soffit

8 inch fascia and soffit $18.00 a linear foot

When measuring do not take out for doors/ garage doors and windows

Texas windstorm certificate where required $300.00 by Norex Engineering

City permits and bonds vary

Double 5 inch vinyl siding is $35.00 more per 100 square feet

Triple 4 inch is $35.00 more per 100 square feet

Rule of thumb is 15% waste of materials


Wood siding cedar or treated wood

Cost  will vary as the price of cedar and treated wood siding goes up and down 

It is higher than Hardie siding especially cedar

We use Glidden Professional Timeless latex  lifetime paint

We use Behr stains  semi transparent or solid

We use ring shank nails ( on the coast stainless ring shank) or ACQ MCQ approved screws or nails.
